Custom Single Family Remodel
Photography: Tom Bonner

This residence, in the Pacific Palisades near Los Angeles, added a moderate amount of new space while remodeling the entire interior of a typical California Ranch house. A new garage, wine cellar and utility room were pushed below the floor elevation of the existing house, making new space above for a guest suite, office and gym.

The design of this project sought to tie together the old and new portions of the house with the terrain and create new pedestrian access. This was done with a series of radially oriented walls that start at the street and draw up through the house to organize the building components. Similarly, interior finishes were used to highlight various parts of the project.
